Ductless Mini-Splits in Medical Lake
A ductless mini-split heats and cools one room or several without new ducts. We size each head to the space, place it where it looks and works best, and keep the same small crew on your job from the first visit to the final walkthrough.

When a Mini-Split Is the Right Choice
A mini-split pairs a compact outdoor unit with one or more wall, ceiling or floor heads inside. A small refrigerant line set and a condensate drain pass through a single hole in the wall, about three inches across. Each head has its own thermostat, so the bedroom you sleep in and the office you work in can sit at different temperatures.
They make the most sense for additions, finished garages, bonus rooms, shops and older homes heated by baseboard or a wood stove. They also suit rooms that never keep up with the rest of the house. Modern cold-climate models keep producing heat well below freezing, which matters through an Eastern Washington winter.
Because the same people who measure your rooms also mount the heads and charge the system, nothing gets lost between the quote and the install. You talk to the crew doing the work, not a dispatcher.
What Our Mini-Split Installation Includes
- Room-by-room load sizing
- We measure each space and look at windows, insulation and sun exposure. An oversized head short-cycles and leaves rooms clammy; an undersized one runs flat out in January. Getting the size right is most of the job.
- Careful head placement
- We walk the room with you and choose a spot for airflow, sightlines and furniture. We also look at how the line set will run, so it stays tidy inside and out.
- A clean exterior line set
- Refrigerant lines run in a painted cover that follows the wall, rather than hanging loose. The outdoor unit sits on a pad or wall bracket raised above snow and drip lines.
- Vacuum and pressure testing
- Before releasing refrigerant, we pull a deep vacuum and confirm the system holds it. This step removes moisture and catches small leaks that cause trouble later.
- Setup and a plain walkthrough
- We pair the remotes, set the modes and show you how to clean the washable filters. You leave knowing how each zone works.
Signs a Ductless System Would Help Your Home
One room is always uncomfortable
A sunroom that bakes in July or a back bedroom that stays cold usually means the main system cannot reach it well. A dedicated head fixes the room without changing the rest of the house.
You are heating with baseboard or space heaters
Electric resistance heat is simple but costly to run. A mini-split moves heat instead of making it, and it adds cooling for summer.
You added or finished a space
Garage conversions, additions and basements often have no practical way to tie into existing heating. Ductless keeps that space comfortable on its own.
There is no air conditioning at all
Many older homes were built without central air. A multi-zone mini-split adds cooling without opening walls and ceilings.
You want each room on its own schedule
Separate zones let you keep guest rooms cool and empty spaces idle, so you only pay to condition the rooms you use.
How an Installation Day Runs
- 1
Visit and written quote
We come out, measure, talk through head locations and outdoor placement, and give you a written quote before any work begins. Estimates are free on installations and replacements.
- 2
Prep and protection
On install day the same crew arrives, lays drop cloths and covers furniture near the wall where we will drill.
- 3
Mounting and line set
We mount the wall brackets, bore the line hole, set the outdoor unit and run the refrigerant lines, drain and wiring inside a finished cover.
- 4
Testing and startup
We vacuum test, release the charge, check temperatures at every head and confirm the condensate drains properly. Most single-zone jobs wrap up in a day.
- 5
Cleanup and handoff
We vacuum dust, haul away packaging and walk you through the controls before we leave.

What Shapes the Cost of a Mini-Split
No two ductless jobs are priced the same, because the number of rooms and the path between them vary so much. We explain each line of the quote by phone and in writing, so you can see where the money goes. Since a mini-split is a heat pump, we can also offer help claiming Avista rebates and federal tax credits on heat pumps where your system qualifies.
- Number of zones
- A single head for one room is the simplest install. Each added zone means another indoor unit, more line set and a larger outdoor unit.
- Equipment efficiency and cold-climate rating
- Higher-efficiency, cold-rated units cost more up front and less to run through winter.
- Line set length and routing
- Long runs, second-floor heads or lines that must travel around corners take more material and labor.
- Head style
- Wall-mounted heads are the most common. Ceiling cassettes and floor consoles look different and install differently, which changes the price.
- Electrical work
- The outdoor unit needs a dedicated circuit and disconnect. Panel capacity affects how simple that is.
Ductless Mini-Split Questions
Something not covered here? (509) 236-8362
Will a mini-split really heat my home in a hard freeze?
Cold-climate models are built to keep producing heat well below freezing. Output does drop as it gets colder, so we size for your coldest weeks rather than an average day. If you have an existing furnace or baseboard, it can stay as a backup.
How loud are the indoor and outdoor units?
Indoor heads on low are about as quiet as a whisper, quieter than most window units. The outdoor unit hums when running hard. We place it away from bedroom windows when the layout allows.
Can one outdoor unit run several rooms?
Yes. A multi-zone outdoor unit can serve several indoor heads, each with its own control. Past a certain number of rooms, two smaller systems sometimes make more sense, and we will tell you which fits your home.
What maintenance does a ductless system need?
Rinse the indoor filters every month or two during heavy use and keep snow and leaves off the outdoor unit. A yearly professional cleaning of the coils and drain keeps it efficient. Our Maintenance Plans cover that visit.
How long does installation take?
A single-zone system usually takes one day. Multi-zone jobs can take two, depending on how many heads and how the lines need to run. We give you a realistic timeline at the quote visit.
